“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”

Thomas Merton, No Man Is An Island

Who we are

Oxel Galerie was founded in 2011 in Berlin by Ulrich Oxel. After some years of preparations, Ulrich opened his new gallery space online in May 2017: www.oxelgalerie.de; an international Chamber of Arts & Commerce, aiming to provide an innovative forum for contemporary art and to satisfy the wishes of both individuals and professionals to combine collecting with investment.
The gallery has gained a reputation by supporting both emerging and established contemporary artists working in all media: sculpture, painting, photography and new media.

How we work

Acquiring art over the Internet has significant advantages, such as convenience, prices, and transparency. The main disadvantage is  undoubtedly not being able to view the article personally before buying it. That’s why the Oxel Galerie is committed to offer high-quality art only, at competitive prices and with all the guarantees that art collectors could require.

From the glittering smithereens of our embarrassing youth and profound premonitions, a glimpse emerges of the glory of our contemporary intelligence

Damien Bauer

The rise of abstract art in the 20th century ushered in an era of what is called monochromatic painting.
And, the style has never really vanished. Mine Argento, Robert Ryman, and Hulda Stefansdottir are very successful representatives of monochrome painting.
And the youngest starr is without any doubt Damien Bauer (Hamburg 1996).

Menno Bakker

The artist (1962) is a modern representative of romance. His paintings and especially his doodles evolve from a 'stream of consciousness-way' of painting and drawing. His themes refer to long walks in his youth, especially in Switzerland and Austria. The foul person in overwhelming nature. However, Bakker’s work often also has a symbolic layer.

Mauritz Aft

In the early years of his career, the work of Mauritz Aft (1951-2016) has been influenced both by the paintings of Mark Rothko and the monochromatic work of Robert Motherwell. In 2011, he moved to Berlin. Only here, he started to use some color in his paintings and watercolors. Als in Berlin, he became friends with Kelvinfahrenheit, who introduced him in 2014 to Ulrich Oxel. In spite of his persistent disregard for fame and recognition, Ulrich persuaded him to exhibit some of his works in the gallery.
Mauritz Aft died in 2016 in a car-crash in France.

Groupe Inconnu

Groupe Inconnu (Franz and Johann, 'no surnames please') established their name first when participating in the first pop up-exhibition that Oxel Galerie established on the isle of Ibiza in 2012. Group Inconnu showed very big sized (200cm X 200 cm) experimental photographs of people and landscapes (four of the five works exhibited during the show were sold). Since 2012, the photographs of Group Inconnu are very popular. The artists are exclusively represented by Oxel Galerie.

Roland Knaus

As a photographer, Roland Knaus (1959) has a very successful career in advertising. His free work can be purchased at Oxel Galerie.
